Cari amici,

leggiamo con preoccupazione la notizia della decisione dell'Arts Coucil di sospendere i finanziamenti a CPR. Ci sembra davvero una cosa inaudita, dopo tanti anni di attività e di costruzione di percorsi di ricerca interessanti per moltissii artisti e gruppi in ambito internazionale.
Vogliamo sperare che il Consiglio torni sulla propria decisione e dimostri di saper svolgere il proprio ruolo di mecenate intelligente delle arti e della cultura.

Purtroppo sempre più si sentono cose del genere, che dimostrano la difficoltà di chi ha i mezzi finanziari a comprendere il senso e l'importanza della ricerca in campo artistico.

La storia è costellata di amministratori che sono divenuti famosi per aver sostenuto artisti d'avanguardia divenuti colonne della storia dell'arte , ma anche di amministratori divenuti famosi per aver ignorato o affossato artisti e gruppi che poi si sono rivelati grandissimi. Speriamo che i membri del Welsch Arts Council vogliano passare alla storia nella prima categoria!

Siamo solidali con voi e chiediamo esplicitamente al Consiglio di ripensare le proprie strategie nei confronti del Centre of Performance Research. Con i nostri più sentiti auguri, cordialmente

Dear friends,

We read with worry the news of the Arts Council decision to suspend the revenue funding to CPR. This is an inaudible decision especially after so many years of activities and creation of so many interesting pathways of research that have attracted so many international artists and groups.

We really want to hope that the Council would go back on their own decision and demonstrate to know how carry out its own role of intelligent patron of the arts and culture.

Unfortunately we hear more and more of such situations, which demonstrate how difficult it is for those with financial means to comprehend the sense and the importance of research in the arts.

The history is studded with administrators who have become famous because they supported avant-garde artists who have then become strong columns of the arts history, but history is also studded with administrators who have become famous because they have ignored or ditched artists and groups that have then revealed to be amongst the greatest.

We hope that the members of the Welsh Arts Council will want to go down in history as part of the first category!

We want to express our solidarity and explicitly ask the Arts Council of Wales to reconsider their strategies in relation to the Centre for Performance Research.
