Tran Quang Hai - Ethnomusicologist of the National Centre for Scientific Research in Paris

Dear Judie Christie and Richard Gough,

I am surprised to learn that the Arts Council of Wales’ decision will withdraw revenue funding from CPR with effect from July ’08.
I always appreciate the CPR works for many years as a guest of many Giving Voice seminars during the last 17 years. CPR promotes experimentation, innovative training programmes, voice and theatre seminars, and especially the international voice meeting “GIVING VOICE” which has become the MUST of voice performances. These meetings have given opportunities to many international artists in the world to meet one another in Wales and to exchange the different methods of teaching, performing around the principal theme which is VOICE.

Thousands of participants, hundreds of teachers have had occasions to work together. This is the rare place in the world created by the staff of the CPR during nearly 20 years to permit all Voice lovers to gather together in Wales (first in Cardiff and later in Aberystwyth).
I totally support the CPR for their mission and hope that the Arts Council of Wales will change the mind and continue to support CPR’s projects.

Wishing both of you having a worldwide response from all voice experts around the world to support you for your noble project.
