SUPPORT TO CENTRE FOR PERFORMANCE RESEARCH

Last summer I travelled from Lancaster University to the Centre for Performance Research in Aberystwyth for a three day workshop in company with Guillermo Gomez Pena, Roberto Sifuentes, Richard Gogh, and Judie Christie.

In my capacity as teacher and researcher with active interests in everything from American performance art to African community theatre, this was one of the highlights of my professional career. However, already as a student and scholar at Stockholm University, Sweden, did I hear about the Performance research in the mysterious sounding Aberystwyth. Richard Schechner from New York University told me all about it at a conference in California.

CPR has a worldwide reputation and is important not only to the avantgarde performance scene and pedagogy in Wales but also to a European and global network of theoreticians as well as practitioners. It would be an immense loss for our discipline if the programme ceased to exist!
