Dr Paul Dwyer - University of Sydney

Dear Colleagues,

I have only just learned of the recent decision by ACW to remove core funding support for your work. I am writing in the hope that you will forward these brief comments to the Arts Council in the course of appealing against this decision.

There is no other organisation in the world doing the work that the Centre for Performance Research is doing. Your track-record of truly innovative and high-quality productions, workshops, conferences and publications over more than thirty years constitutes a body of work which is unparalleled. When I read through the CLT/CPR chronology and am reminded, again, of the extraordinary volume of practical and theoretical knowledge which has been generated in Aberystwyth, I have no qualms at all in saying that your work occupies an absolutely central and essential place in the field of contemporary performance internationally.

I wish you all the very best in this current crisis and trust that the Arts Council will see sense.

Paul Dwyer
