I can’t tell you how saddened and shocked I was to learn of the withdrawal of ACW funding from CPR. This is a short sighted and limited decision, leaving you little time to look for alternative sources of revenue. To put public money into a complex organisation like CPR and then withdraw it without support or guidance or even a planned timetable is destructive.
My own connections with CPR go back to the early 90s when you were in the car park at Chapter. I owe it a great deal. Its resources and workshops have been a constant source of encouragement and enlightenment over the years, giving me a completely new perspective on theatre and the performing arts. I have been grateful to it for allowing me to see a whole host of performers from Gardzienice to most recently STAN. CPR has provided me and Wales with an international dimension to performance that would be absent if CPR were to close or reduce its activity.
