Dear Judie and Richard
I am shocked to hear of the Arts council of Wales' plans to cut your revenue funding from later this year. Do they not realise what you do?
I am a London based artist working in performance. I don't think it is controversial to suggest that there is a London centrism with the arts and creative industries and many people are of the attitude that the only place to look for excellence in innovation and good practice in contemporary art is at the centre- in London or perhaps other major English cities. The activities of CPR remind us that centres of excellence are also to be found in the regions, in marginal places, and put Aberystwth (and Wales, more generally) on the map as an important location in the research and production of contemporary performance, both nationally and internationally, defying such prejudices. What fools!
I wish you all the best in your fight to counter their decision, and be able to continue your work at CPR. I do not know how best to offer support, but please let me know if I can do anything
Yours Sincerely
