Dear Judie Christie and Richard Gough,
I'm horrified to hear that CPR is to have its funding withdrawn. There is no one else doing the work of building international discussion and cross-fertilisation in the way that CPR has done so consistently for so many years. The data base amassed over this period is both impressive and readily available to those who wish to benefit from this resource and is a vital part of theatre moving forward with the support of work done in the past. CPR addresses the cutting edge of theatre, whilst at the same time opening its doors to a far wider group via conferences and workshops. The withdrawal of your funding indicates a profound lack of understanding of how Theatre as a true art form (rather than simply entertainment) emerges and progresses.
I sincerely hope that this decision will be reversed via an appeal,
Yours with sympathy - and hope!
