My name is Fraisia Dunn. I am writing to you in support of CPR in light of the recent decision to cut funding to this important resource.
I used to study at UWA and I am particularly saddened to hear that these cuts would directly influence the relationship between CPR and the University of Wales, Aberystwyth. I was very honoured and still am, to have been a student on the first year that the Performance Studies course was offered at Aberystwyth and I found the existence of CPR to be an invaluable resource. This is especially important given the relatively rural location of the university- I simply do not think that students of the future will be able to see the outstanding international programme of artists, performers and workshops that CPR manages to pull to the town and I do not see that the course could continue to be as of high calibre without the links between the university and CPR.
This is to say nothing of the fact that CPR means that creative, talented people who would not otherwise visit this corner of Wales will no longer have a reason to visit.I feel that cutting funding to the organisation would prove a loss to the university, the local cultural climate and to many artists, performers and students locally and worldwide. I believe that this decision should be reviewed.
Best regards,
Fraisia Dunn
