Dear Judie Christie and Richard Gough:
It is with great dismay that I read of the decision of the Arts Council of Wales to withdraw revenue funding with effect from July 2008. CPR is an international leader in performance research; seeing performance as a way to appreciate and understand human endeavor. This broad spectrum approach to culture including language, sport, art, and play has inspired performers and theatre companies around the world to do the same. CPR does all of this and maintains a standard of excellence in artistry and organization. The intercultural, interdisciplinary and integrating approach to culture allows re-invention of forms that bring the forces of art safely out from the margins and into the lives of all humanity.
I urge the Arts Council of Wales to change its decision and continue its support of this well-established organization whose home in Aberystwyth brings theatre practitioners from around the globe into contact with this fascinating part of the world.
Yours truly,
Lin Snelling/Dance artist/Montréal, Canada.
