Ritsaert ten Cate - Founder and Director of Das Arts, Amsterdam

To whom it may concern at the Arts Council

From personal experience I know interference with national, local aspects of cultural policy, certainly from ‘bloody foreigners’ is predominantly frowned upon. However, since my background is incorporated in an Arts Council of Great Britain produced book named “The Producers” I feel less reluctant knocking on your door. I want to suggest that maybe on second consideration you might not wish to end the subsidy of CPR. This organization has blessed a far wider circle internationally with arranging a multitude of events that stimulate and inspire those who take part in processes of visual arts and theatre. Strangely, but happily so, at all these events a component of Welsh culture, for some of us an introduction to it, is always integrated in the structure of the workshops, congresses, publications. Having visited CPR several times – once even with a group of post academic theatre makers – and also having had the pleasure to invite CPR’s two directors to invent and execute a three months course for DasArts (a Master for the Arts) I feel sufficiently informed and inspired to suggest you prioritize assisting CPR financially.

Respectfully yours, Ritsaert ten Cate
