Michael Mangan - Chair in Drama at Exeter University, playwright, author, director, dramaturg and actor

Dear Richard and Judie

I was shocked and disappointed to hear the bad news about the Arts Council of Wales decision to cut revenue funding to CPR. As you know, I have always been an admirer of CPR's work in promoting innovative performance (and the discourses of performance) in Wales and beyond. The cultural value to the area of the events, festivals, conferences, workshops and symposia that CPR has organized over the past years has had impact well beyond the academy, offering a richness of experience which most places would envy. The Arts Council of England is famous for not recognizing and valuing its most creative organizations; it is very disappointing to find the Arts Council of Wales is subject to the same malaise.

You have my very best wishes in your fight against this shortsighted and destructive decision. If this email is at all helpful please use it in whatever way you find appropriate.
